Get to Know Beyonce

According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has sued singer Beyonce Knowles, saying her plan for a fragrance named after her alter ego Sasha Fierce violates the teen clothing retailer’s trademark. The chain, which has sold a men’s fragrance called Fierce since 2002, wants a court to order Knowles to abandon the plan. Abercrombie has held a trademark for the word “fierce” since 2003, according to the lawsuit it filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Columbus, Ohio. A publicist and an attorney for Knowles did not immediately return e-mails and a call seeking comment.

Destiny’s Child — the pop group’s name suggests the favor of fate and birthright, and there’s never been a doubt about which member is the designated child of destiny. In Destiny’s Child, Beyonce Knowles is supreme in the way Diana Ross once was a Supreme.

Beyonce Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. She is five years older than her only sister, Solange Knowles. Beyonce was raised by both of her parents in Houston, Texas. Although she came from a middle class family, Beyonce attended the High School of the Visual and Performing Arts. At first, Beyonce took jazz and ballet class until one day when her dance instructor heard her beautiful and melodious voice. She loved choir lessons and was very good at them. Her family encouraged her efforts because of her amazing voice. Although Beyonce did not go to college, she became a famous R&B (rhythm and blues) singer.
